With the increase in violence often being the top news stories across the United States, it is not too late to take a renewed look at your security needs and security’s role in workplace violence prevention and response.

Security Plan

Depending on the risks that your business may face, some of which you may not realize, security has to be an important part of your business strategy.

In today’s world it is a fact that the potential for workplace violence is always present in just about every type of business environment. No longer can we rely on law enforcement to handle many of our security needs or respond to minor incidents. In fact in many cities law enforcement has cut services due to budget cuts and the increased calls for service.

Workplace Violence

Take for example the random acts of violence when there is a workplace shooting.  This type of incident cannot always be foreseen and therefore you cannot always plan for a proper response. There are many times when warning signs are present before an actual act, yet that is not always the case.

Security budgets have been squeezed in many types of businesses, and in some cases they have been reduced by over 50%. Budget driven security is not a well thought out strategy, and in fact if not properly managed a security program that is not funded in such a way to reduce risks will likely fail over time.  Think of it this way, your return on your investment for security is always related to what you put into it, put in very little and you should expect and will likely receive very little in return.
